A Milestone Achievement: 'The Timeline of Enslavement' Receives Award of Excellence
The Award of Excellence is presented to recognize excellence for projects (including civic engagement, special projects, educational programs, exhibits, publications, etc.), and individual lifetime achievement. This is the main award in the Leadership in History Awards program. June 19, 2023
We are thrilled to share this exciting development in our journey! One remarkable milestone on our path is Courtney's upcoming trip to receive an Award of Excellence from the American Association for State and Local History, recognizing her unwavering dedication to this project. This prestigious recognition not only highlights the significance of this research but also opens new avenues for expanding the timeline and connecting with invaluable information and, hopefully, descendants.
Courtney's attendance at this conference will contribute to the overall success of our work. By receiving this award in person, Courtney will bring exposure to the project and amplify our mission. This exposure will create opportunities and resources for this research and foster a greater understanding and appreciation of the history we seek to uncover.
The Bristol Historical Society has generously donated the necessary funds to cover all travel expenses and related costs. This contribution will have a significant impact and empower our research's success, promoting a deeper understanding of the enslaved individuals who resided in Bristol, RI.
We are immensely grateful for this support and everything we have received from our local community and those interested in this work thus far. It is through your continued support that we have reached this remarkable milestone and we’re grateful to have you on this journey as we strive to shed light on the history, humanity, and contributions of these extraordinary individuals.
